Recently, at the work promotion meeting of the full lifecycle management service platform for humanoid robots held in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the "Full Lifecycle Management Service Platform for Humanoid Robots" was released to the entire industry. The "Full Lifecycle Management Specification for Humanoid Robots", which was unveiled simultaneously, was also unveiled for the first time: in the future, each humanoid robot will be assigned a "identity code" consisting of 29 characters, achieving full chain lifecycle management from "birth" to "death". This means that the humanoid robot officially has a unique "ID number".
At present, the global humanoid robot industry is entering a strategic opportunity period of accelerated technological iteration, rapid release of production capacity, and landing of scene scale. By 2025, China's shipment volume of humanoid robots will account for over 90% of the global total, with top enterprises consistently ranking first in the world in terms of shipment volume. The three major industrial clusters of Beijing Tianjin Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, and Pearl River Delta gather over 500 backbone enterprises. At the same time, the overall product capability structure has shifted from the "kung fu mode" to the "part-time mode", and the pace of commercialization has accelerated.
With the large-scale deployment of humanoid robots, a series of new challenges have also emerged. For example, the coding rules vary among different enterprises, making it difficult to achieve cross enterprise, cross industry, and cross scenario identity recognition and unified identification; The large-scale entry of humanoid robots into production, life, and public settings continues to increase the pressure of social security prevention and control; The boundary division of rights and responsibilities in the entire chain is vague, which can easily lead to problems such as responsibility shifting and lack of evidence for tracing
How to accurately distinguish the "surname and name" of a robot? How to trace back if there is a problem? Yu Xiuming, vice president of the China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization, said that in the future, the "ID number number" of each humanoid robot will be unique, unchangeable and run through the whole life cycle. After repeated discussions with major manufacturers, this set of codes was ultimately determined to be 29 digits, divided into 4 segments, collectively forming the "ID card" of the humanoid robot and serving as the foundation of the entire traceability system.
It is reported that among the four codes, the length of the country code is 2 digits, which clarifies the origin of the product and facilitates cross-border traceability and product export; The length of the enterprise name code is 4 digits, which is used to uniquely identify the manufacturer and ensure that the responsible party can be traced and held accountable; The length of the product type number is 6 digits, which maps the model and technical characteristics of the product, clarifies the product classification and manufacturing time; The serial number has a length of 17 digits and uniquely identifies a single product under the same model, achieving precise individual level traceability from production to recycling.
Yu Xiuming stated that by encoding unique identity information, humanoid robots are endowed with social attributes, achieving cross domain, cross industry, and cross position control, thereby solving core issues such as safety, management, and governance, and accelerating the implementation of humanoid robot applications.
It is reported that in September 2025, the China Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization and the China Electronics Society will lead the establishment of a standard preparation group, jointly with more than 50 units, in accordance with the principle of "urgent needs first", to promote the group standard of "Full Life Cycle Management Specification for Humanoid Robots". At present, the establishment of mandatory national standards and industry standards is progressing synchronously.
At present, we are synchronously promoting the establishment of mandatory national standards and industry standards. "Yu Xiuming introduced that in the future, we will systematically carry out standard interpretation and operation training for manufacturers, service providers, etc., to ensure that all parties can" understand, use, and comply ". Combined with the implementation data of the standards, we will accelerate the development of digital identity related standards such as humanoid robot identity recognition, product certification, and electronic fences, and help the industry develop in a standardized and orderly manner.
With the standardization of identity coding for humanoid robots, their full lifecycle management is also moving towards standardization. The "Norms for the Full Lifecycle Management of Humanoid Robots" not only stipulate identity coding rules, but also provide clear requirements for the full lifecycle management of humanoid robot products, including production, circulation, maintenance, and recycling. It provides reference guidance for manufacturers, service providers, importers, sellers, users, recycling agencies, regulators, and other relevant parties of humanoid robot products.
Liang Liang, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the Standardization Technical Committee for Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Deputy Secretary General of the China Electronics Society, introduced that the full lifecycle management service platform for humanoid robots is based on the architecture of "one platform, one ecosystem, and three capabilities", creating a full chain management service system covering "research and development, production, admission, sales, use, maintenance, scrapping, and recycling", forming a closed-loop governance mechanism of "traceable at the source, controllable throughout the process, risk prevention, and accountability".
As of now, the platform has covered more than 100 domestic humanoid robot companies and completed the full lifecycle coding of over 28000 robots for more than 200 product models. Members of the artificial intelligence working mechanism from 20 cities including Beijing, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Ningbo, as well as more than 30 leading humanoid robot companies, have officially signed contracts to jointly promote technological innovation and safety regulations.
Xie Shaofeng, Chairman of the Standardization Technical Committee for Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated at the meeting that we will take the release of the Humanoid Robot Full Lifecycle Management Service Platform as an opportunity to continue to promote the standardization of various key tasks for humanoid robots at a high level, and work together to create a safe, controllable, innovative, and virtuous cycle humanoid robot industry ecosystem.
