Lianyungang Airport in Jiangsu Province has built an intelligent bird detection warning and drone countermeasure system based on 6G (sixth generation mobile communication technology), which has recently been put into trial operation.

This is the first time that domestic airports have applied 6G non cellular communication technology to airspace security. The system integrates core technologies such as 6G cellular free low altitude dedicated communication, multi-source perception, and artificial intelligence analysis to build an integrated security prevention and control system with "global perception, real-time transmission, intelligent decision-making, and precise disposal".

In terms of intelligent bird detection, the system links with radar, photoelectric sensors, and other devices installed around the runway through a 6G network to achieve all-weather detection of bird activities within a 6-kilometer range of the airport's clearance zone. With the wide coverage and 18 millisecond ultra-low latency characteristics of 6G non cellular technology, the system can transmit real-time data such as the location, quantity, and flight trajectory of birds back to the command center. Based on GIS (Geographic Information System) maps, it can display real-time and coordinate with relevant equipment to immediately carry out precise evacuation.

In the scenario of drone countermeasures, the system is equipped with communication and low altitude intelligent countermeasures equipment. Radar and wireless spectrum detection equipment can achieve early warning of illegal drones 5 kilometers away, and optoelectronic tracking equipment can complete target recognition and locking in a short period of time. After confirming the "black fly" target, the system can activate the directional interference mode to accurately block the drone control signal without interfering with civil aviation navigation communication, achieve a second level threat response, provide technical support for disposal methods such as evacuation and forced landing, and can leave traces for evidence collection throughout the process.

During the trial operation, the system has successfully alerted multiple bird colony invasions and other events, effectively improving flight safety and security capabilities while balancing operational safety and efficiency. The relevant person in charge of Lianyungang Airport stated that compared to traditional manual inspections, timed bird control, and independent equipment operation modes, the 6G smart security system has achieved a transformation from "passive response" to "active prevention and control". The 6G non cellular private network achieves continuous signal coverage in the 20 kilometer clearance area around the airport, solving the problem of blind spots in edge detection.
